Our laboratory is part of the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Tropical Medicine and of the Research Center for Neglected Diseases of Poverty, at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Active projects and research interests of lab members focus on neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), particularly schistosomiasis, food borne trematodiasis, snail vectors of schistosomes, and helminth associated cancers. These projects include functional genomics for schistosomes, including deployment of mammalian retroviruses to transfer transgenes to schistosome chromosomes, Opisthorchis viverrini associated bile duct cancer in Thailand, and Schistosoma haematobium associated bladder cancer.
Lab members include doctoral students, postdocs and faculty members, and visiting investigators from collaborators’ laboratories in Thailand, China, Brazil, Australia and other sites.
